COLUMBUS — No. 4 Ohio State heads into one of the biggest games of its season on Saturday, traveling to Bloomington to face unbeaten No. 5 Indiana at noon on FOX.
Head coach Ryan Day met with reporters at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as the Buckeyes (5-1) turned their attention from a 45-16 win over Maryland on Oct. 10 to the Hoosiers (6-0), who have won 22 consecutive games.
Much of Indiana’s defensive planning will center on wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith caught two more touchdown passes against Maryland and now sits within one score of the all-time Big Ten record for career receiving touchdowns. He is already Ohio State’s career leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Indiana coach Curt Cignetti praised Smith this week as a “wow” player unlike anyone else in college football right now, while noting his defense will have to do a great job on him to slow the Buckeyes down.
Indiana arrives after a gut-check win at Nebraska, rallying from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to win 20-17 and stay undefeated.
Ohio State leads the all-time series with Indiana 80-13-5, but Saturday’s meeting in Bloomington shapes up as one of the most anticipated ever on the Hoosiers’ campus, with FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff on site for the top-five showdown.
