COLUMBUS — Two British travel creators are getting a crash course in Buckeye traditions this week, and their first lesson was the letter M — or rather, why it keeps getting crossed out all over Ohio State’s campus.
Josh and Jase, who share their American travels with about 1 million Instagram followers, began posting from Columbus on Oct. 13, taking in Mirror Lake and Ohio Stadium and puzzling over the taped-over Ms that appear whenever Michigan week approaches. Their Columbus stop is part of a wider tour of Big Ten campuses organized with health care company Abbott to promote its We Give Blood donation competition between schools.
On campus, the pair met Joe Gantz, a former Ohio State running back from the Jim Tressel era who now works for Versiti Blood Center of Ohio. The duo say they intend to donate blood themselves as part of the campaign.
Joshua Cauldwell-Clarke and Jason Riley, both 32, document American places, food and traditions for their audience back home. Ohio is one stop among several Big Ten visits that have already included Penn State, Maryland, Indiana, Iowa and Illinois — and the two are not done with Columbus. They say they plan to be back at Ohio Stadium on Nov. 28, when the Buckeyes host Michigan in the regular-season finale.
