COLUMBUS — Ohio’s Tax Credit Authority has approved five economic development projects across the state that are expected to create 1,173 new jobs and bring in more than $431 million in investment.
Gov. Mike DeWine and the state’s development director, Lydia Mihalik, announced the projects on Sept. 28. In addition to the new jobs, the tax incentives are expected to help retain 601 existing jobs, with the state projecting more than $79 million in new payroll.
Among the projects is a new lithium battery facility planned near Jeffersonville by South Korean battery maker Sebang, part of a wave of energy and manufacturing investment flowing into Ohio.
In central Ohio, Neptune North, Inc., a British artificial intelligence and software consulting firm headquartered in New Castle, United Kingdom, plans to expand its operations. The company expects to create 75 full-time positions generating $6 million in new annual payroll by the end of 2029.
The local team will include software developers, data engineers and other technology professionals serving clients in the finance and defense industries. The credit authority approved a 1.45%, eight-year job creation tax credit for the expansion.
Neptune North CEO James Beard said the Columbus region gives the company access to exceptional talent, a strong business community and the connectivity it needs to serve U.S. clients and build a foundation for long-term growth.
