COLUMBUS — The countdown is on: early voting for Ohio’s Nov. 3 general election begins one week from today, on Tuesday, Oct. 6 — but Ohioans must be registered by Monday, Oct. 5, to cast a ballot.
Voter registration ends Oct. 5, with county boards of elections and the Secretary of State’s office open until 9 p.m. that day. Early in-person and absentee voting by mail begin the following day, Oct. 6. Ohioans with an unexpired driver’s license or state ID can register or update their information online at VoteOhio.gov.
For the first week, early in-person voting locations will be open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with hours varying week to week. Ohio voters can also preview their sample ballots through the Secretary of State’s sample ballot directory before heading to the polls.
Ohioans will decide the governor’s race, a U.S. Senate seat, U.S. House seats and state legislative races on Nov. 3. Absentee ballot applications must reach county boards of elections by 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 27, and completed absentee ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
