COLUMBUS — A consultant’s report that dismissed concerns raised by the city of Cleveland was the key factor in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) decision to approve the height of the new Cleveland Browns stadium, located near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

ODOT had hired Federal Airways & Airspace, an independent consultant from Satellite Beach, Florida, to review the proposed project. The consultant’s report concluded that the large indoor stadium would not necessitate changes to current flight operations at Hopkins or introduce any new hazards.

The finding directly contradicted the city’s previously expressed concerns regarding the stadium’s proximity to the airport and its potential impact on air traffic.

This reversal by ODOT paves the way for the stadium’s construction to move forward as planned, clearing a significant regulatory hurdle for the project.
