In Columbus, the Ohio History Connection kicked off a weekend-long celebration with free admission and special exhibits tracing Ohio’s journey from frontier territory to industrial powerhouse. Meanwhile, local leaders in Chillicothe — the state’s first capital — are reminding residents that their city was the site of the state’s earliest government meetings.

Governor Mike DeWine is expected to issue a statewide proclamation later today, praising Ohio’s contributions to the nation in industry, innovation, and public service. “Ohio’s story is one of resilience and leadership that continues to shape our country,” his office said in a statement Sunday morning.
