MAUMEE — A 59-year-old Toledo woman died Friday afternoon, Oct. 16, in a three-vehicle crash on West Dussel Drive near Osage Drive, the Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Lisa D. Robinson, 59, of Toledo, was a passenger in one of the vehicles struck in the crash, which was reported at about 3:36 p.m. She was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased, the patrol said in a news release.

Troopers said Ashton M. Loth, 23, of Whitehouse, was driving a 2021 Dodge Charger eastbound on West Dussel Drive when he lost control of the vehicle. The Charger traveled into the westbound lanes and struck a 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by Da Von Criddell, 34, of Toledo, and a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John A. Kleinhans, 60, of Port Clinton, who was also traveling westbound.

Robinson was riding in Criddell’s vehicle. Loth and Criddell were both taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Kleinhans was treated at the scene and released.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a safety belt, the patrol said. West Dussel Drive was closed for about four hours while troopers investigated and crews cleared the scene, disrupting Friday afternoon travel through one of Maumee’s busiest commercial corridors.

The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Maumee Police Department, Springfield Township Fire and EMS, Toledo Fire and EMS, and Monclova Township Fire and EMS.

The Maumee crash was the second fatal crash on Northwest Ohio roads on Friday. Earlier that morning, Clay Township Police Sergeant Jacob Roesler, 26, was killed in Ottawa County while responding to a separate crash, a loss that drew condolences from law enforcement agencies across the region and left two departments mourning on the same day.

The crash remains under investigation by the Toledo post of the Highway Patrol. The patrol’s release did not announce any charges or cite a cause beyond the Charger losing control, and investigators have not said whether speed or impairment played a role. Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken with troopers can contact the Toledo post.
