COLUMBUS — Central Ohioans heading out on Columbus Day may find their routines disrupted Monday, as the federal holiday brings closures and schedule changes across the region. The City of Columbus is observing the day as Indigenous Peoples Day.

The city will not collect trash on Monday, Oct. 12. Color-coded trash routes rotate forward one day, and residents without a collection color will see pickup delayed one day during the holiday week. Recycling and yard waste remain on their regular schedules — residents should put those carts out Monday if it is their scheduled collection day. In Grove City, trash and recycling collection are not delayed.

Banks are a mixed bag: Huntington is open for normal business hours, though transaction posting is delayed until Tuesday because of federal closures, and Chase branches are also open while treating the day as a holiday for online processing. Columbus will not enforce payment at city parking meters and kiosks on Monday, though rush-hour, loading, accessible parking and residential permit rules remain in effect.

Several government offices are closed, including Columbus Public Service offices such as the Parking Violations Bureau and Right-of-Way Permits Office, plus the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the State Board of Education and the State Employment Relations Board. In Grove City, closures include administration, Parks and Service offices, Mayor’s Court, the Evans Center and the Welcome Center and Museum.
