COLUMBUS — Former 10TV anchor Tracy Townsend is joining Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther’s administration, the mayor’s office announced Thursday.
Townsend spent more than two decades at 10TV, joining the station in 2005 and most recently anchoring “10TV News This Morning.” During her tenure she covered breaking news, politics, health and the issues affecting central Ohio. A Cincinnati native and Ohio State University graduate, she previously worked at television stations in Cincinnati, Kansas City and Chicago. Her journalism earned multiple Emmy Awards as well as regional and national Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Ginther said Townsend’s experience will help the city connect with residents and neighborhood leaders as his administration focuses on safety, transportation and housing. Townsend, a breast cancer survivor and women’s health advocate, has served on the board of Komen Columbus and is involved with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Columbus chapter of The Links, a women’s service organization.
Ginther also announced other leadership moves Thursday. Craig Conley takes on expanded responsibilities as deputy chief of staff for enterprise services and director of inclusive growth and innovation, overseeing supplier diversity, small business, economic development, innovation and sustainability while supporting the city’s Civil Service, Human Resources and Technology departments. Randy Borntrager joins as deputy chief of staff for communications and marketing after seven years leading public affairs and communications at the Department of Public Service.
