Downtown Lima, Inc. is charting an ambitious course for the heart of the city after reporting a year of strong community support and fresh momentum for 2026.
At its annual meeting this week at The Met, the nonprofit downtown advocacy group unveiled its 2026 “Roadmap,” a planning document outlining priorities for business support, public events and continued reinvestment in Lima’s central core. The organization highlighted that more than 68,000 dollars was raised over the past year through ticket sales, discount cards, cash donations and grants to fuel community development efforts. Leaders framed that support as proof that residents, businesses and local partners increasingly see downtown as a focal point for economic and social life in Allen County.
“One of the big things that we are essentially unveiling is our 2026 roadmap,” Executive Director Cricket Rodriguez told attendees, noting that the package includes new planning documents and sponsorship materials aimed at keeping businesses and donors engaged in the coming year. The roadmap is designed to guide Downtown Lima, Inc.’s work in promotions, urban design and stakeholder outreach, aligning with the group’s mission to “enhance and advocate for a dynamic, vital and sustainable downtown.”
The group also rolled out a new events calendar for 2026, with the full slate already posted and pinned online so residents can easily find dates for downtown festivals, tours and other attractions. Rodriguez said putting the calendar out early is intended to help families, small businesses and sponsors plan ahead and to underscore that downtown will offer consistent activity throughout the year. In recent years, Downtown Lima, Inc. has worked closely with the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce and other partners on initiatives such as farmers markets, corridor improvements and business support programs that aim to draw people and investment back into the city center.
Downtown Lima, Inc. operates as a membership-based nonprofit that coordinates marketing, events and streetscape improvements while convening property and business owners to discuss needs and priorities. Its committees focus on issues ranging from seasonal decorations and banners to building rehabilitation and business retention, all in service of the vision of “a vibrant downtown for all.” With the 2026 Roadmap now in place and new funding lined up, organization leaders say they hope to build on 2025’s successes and keep downtown’s recent momentum going into the next year.
