CINCINNATI — One of Ohio’s premier high school basketball talents is staying home. Former Princeton High School star A’mire Gill announced Sunday that he has committed to play college basketball for Miami (Ohio), making the announcement in front of family and friends in downtown Cincinnati.

Gill, a 6-foot-3 guard in the Class of 2027, led Princeton to the OHSAA Division I boys basketball state championship in March, guiding the Vikings to a 25-3 record. He averaged 17.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, and in the state final he poured in 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting. He was named first-team all-state and all-district and shared Cincinnati Enquirer co-player of the year honors in Division I.

Before heading to Oxford, Gill will spend this season at Masters Academy International, a prep school in Stow, Massachusetts. He then joins a RedHawks program coming off a historic 32-2 season under coach Travis Steele, one of the best campaigns in school history.

Landing a player of Gill’s caliber — a state champion who delivered his best when the lights were brightest — is a major recruiting win for Miami as it looks to sustain last season’s breakthrough. For Princeton, the commitment closes the book on a remarkable chapter for the program’s most decorated recent star.

Gill’s decision also keeps one of Cincinnati’s finest inside Ohio, a point of pride for Miami’s fan base. RedHawk fans will be watching closely as he develops at prep school this season before arriving in Oxford.
