ATHENS — The brick streets of Athens are about to fill with generations of Bobcats as Ohio University celebrates Homecoming 2026, the university announced this week.
Homecoming Week runs Oct. 5-10 and will feature events for students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members and friends. This year’s lineup includes the annual Homecoming Parade, a new archival display in Alden Library, and performances by the Marching 110, voted the best marching band in the nation by USA Today.
The week also features the Bobcat football game, virtual events for alumni around the world, an appearance by sports journalist and Ohio University graduate Peter King, the Alumni Awards Ceremony, volunteer opportunities and the annual food drive for the Bobcat Food Pantry.
“Homecoming is one of those traditions that reminds us of what it means to be Bobcats,” said Jennifer Bowie, executive director of the Ohio University Alumni Association. “Whether you’re walking the Bricks for the first time since graduation, bringing your family back to campus, or tuning in from around the world, it’s a chance to reconnect with the people, places and memories that make OHIO home.”
University officials say new tailgating options this year will give attendees fresh ways to celebrate before the game.
Homecoming is one of the biggest weekends of the fall in Athens, drawing thousands of visitors to the city’s hotels, restaurants and shops and providing a significant boost to the local economy.
