HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Montgomery County is moving closer to building a new $40 million Job and Training Center in Harrison Township, after securing a large property in Forest Park and beginning the next stage of planning for the project.
County officials recently gathered with state representatives and community partners to mark the progress, unveiling a temporary sign at the future construction site. The county completed its purchase of the 40-acre property in August for $729,000, giving the project room for the planned facility and possible future development.
The new center is expected to bring employment services, job training and related resources together in one location for Montgomery County residents.
Commission President Carolyn Rice called the site milestone an exciting point in the project, saying the county has secured the property, brought its partners together and now has a clear path toward construction.
With the land in hand, officials are turning their attention to the building’s design and the steps that must come before construction can begin.
The project represents a major county investment in workforce services in the Dayton area, where the Job Center is a front door for residents looking for work, training and support services. County leaders say the Harrison Township site positions those services to grow alongside the community they serve.
