CINCINNATI — GoSun, a Cincinnati solar technology company best known for solar ovens and portable power products, launched a new equity crowdfunding opportunity on StartEngine on Oct. 13 as it expands into larger solar products.
The company said the campaign supports a move into solar utility electric vehicles, electric vehicle charging, solar carports and electric tractors. Founder and CEO Patrick Sherwin described the launch as a defining step toward helping people move, work and live with more energy independence.
GoSun has spent more than a decade building products aimed at recreation and resilience, from solar cooking and portable power to vehicle-mounted solar. Its newest lineup includes an on-board EV solar charger, a 4-kilowatt solar carport designed for vehicle charging, a small solar utility vehicle, and the Moonrider 27 electric tractor, which it plans to bring to the North American market through a partnership with Moonrider in Bangalore, India.
Together, the products form what the company calls solar utility vehicles — practical tools that combine mobility, solar generation and everyday utility for use at home, on the road, on the farm and off the grid.
The company said it has previously relied on a community of customers and investors to support its mission of making solar more accessible, and that the new offering gives supporters a chance to back its next chapter.
The offering is made through StartEngine Primary, LLC under Regulation Crowdfunding. The company noted in its announcement that the investment is speculative and illiquid and involves a high degree of risk, including the possible loss of the entire investment.
