Hoffman, who has served on City Council since 2019 and was re-elected in 2023, faces a recent menacing by stalking charge connected to alleged conduct toward a woman over several months. Court records indicate that he was previously charged in November with telecommunications harassment and menacing by stalking after allegedly making repeated calls and sending messages from multiple phone numbers and email addresses despite being asked to stop.
The latest charge accuses Hoffman of having others send messages to the same woman, sharing Google image folders with her, and leaving a duct-taped box on her porch over the Christmas holiday containing letters and gifts for her children. Earlier court documents also allege that Hoffman approached the woman and her daughter in a school pickup line at Scioto Ridge Elementary School.
Council members are expected to formally vote to accept Hoffman’s resignation at their next meeting on Jan. 12, city officials said. Once the resignation is formally accepted, the city is expected to begin its process for filling the Third Ward vacancy, which was scheduled to be represented by Hoffman through 2027.
Hoffman previously told the court after his initial charges in November that he expected to be “fully exonerated.” As of Monday, he had not issued a new public statement regarding his resignation or the latest stalking charge.
