COLUMBUS — Columbus-based ODW Logistics will share what it has learned from automating warehouse inventory control at the NextGen Supply Chain Conference, Oct. 21 through Oct. 23, the company announced Oct. 13.
Kayla Watson, ODW’s director of inventory control, will co-present with Todd Boone, a vice president at technology partner Dexory, in a session on how automated inventory systems are changing warehouse operations.
The system ODW uses continuously checks inventory locations and flags discrepancies before they can affect order fulfillment, giving warehouse teams information they can act on without stopping daily work. Watson plans to describe the challenges her team hit early in the rollout and the results that followed.
Since deploying its first unit, the company says about 90 percent of inventory discrepancies are now identified before they affect fulfillment, with less waste tied to inventory errors and better visibility across its operations, including a digital view of warehouse stock.
Watson said she was skeptical at first, but the dashboard and digital model of the warehouse convinced her the system gave her team a level of visibility it had not had before.
The presentation puts a central Ohio logistics company on a national supply-chain stage, as Columbus continues to grow as a warehousing and distribution hub.
