Andre Szmyt drilled a career-long 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining to lift the Cleveland Browns to a 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football at Huntington Bank Field.
Deshaun Watson completed 24 of 33 passes for 268 yards, a touchdown and an interception, leading his third consecutive game-winning drive. Jaleel McLaughlin and Quinshon Judkins rushed for touchdowns and Harold Fannin Jr. added a scoring catch as Cleveland built a 21-10 halftime lead. Grant Delpit and Denzel Ward intercepted Aaron Rodgers, and the Browns sacked him five times; Delpit’s pick of Rodgers’ final throw with one second left sealed it.
Rodgers nearly authored a stunning comeback, throwing a 3-yard touchdown to Pat Freiermuth and sneaking in the two-point conversion with 1:42 left to tie the game at 24 after Pittsburgh trailed by 11 entering the fourth quarter. Rodgers finished 22 of 40 for 299 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions; Jaylen Warren totaled 126 scrimmage yards and DK Metcalf had 115 receiving yards.
The third straight win moves Cleveland to 3-1 — its best start since 2021 — and into first place in the AFC North. Pittsburgh falls to 2-2.
