DAYTON — Dayton International Airport has a new airline on its departure boards. Breeze Airways operated its first-ever flights from Dayton on Friday, Oct. 9, launching nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with introductory one-way fares starting at $69.

The route runs twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, giving western Ohio travelers a new direct option to South Florida without connecting through a larger hub. Breeze becomes the fifth airline serving Dayton, joining Allegiant, American, Delta and United. The low-cost carrier, founded by airline veteran David Neeleman, flies modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft and has built its brand on connecting mid-size cities the major airlines overlook.

Friday’s inaugural was only the first stage of a four-destination expansion Breeze announced in June 2026. Nonstop flights from Dayton to Fort Myers, Florida, begin Oct. 23, followed by nonstop service to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, on Nov. 6, plus one-stop BreezeThru service to Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, on Nov. 6.

For Dayton-area travelers, the growth means more choices for Florida getaways, family visits and business trips — and more competition on fares out of the Gem City’s hometown airport.
