CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals are bringing back a familiar face at wide receiver, signing Mitchell Tinsley off the Houston Texans’ practice squad and onto their active roster.
The move, reported Tuesday morning by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, comes as the Bengals deal with injuries at the position. Wide receiver Andrei Iosivas has been sidelined, and rookie Colbie Young was hurt during Sunday’s game.
Tinsley spent training camp with Cincinnati this summer but did not make the 53-man roster, later landing on Houston’s practice squad. He has stepped up for the Bengals at times in past seasons, making him a known quantity for the coaching staff as the team looks to stabilize its receiving corps.
The signing follows Cincinnati’s first loss of the season, a 30-27 road defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3 that dropped the Bengals to 2-1.
Cincinnati returns home in Week 4 to host the Jacksonville Jaguars, who arrive surging after a dominant 35-6 victory over the New England Patriots. The Bengals will look to get back in the win column at Paycor Stadium with Tinsley back in stripes.
