AKRON — An arrest has been made in connection with two fires in a single week at the same Akron home, the Akron Fire Department said in a news release reported on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The house, in the 900 block of Fess Avenue, first caught fire on Thursday, Oct. 8. It burned again on Sunday, Oct. 11, at about 9:23 p.m., with heavy fire throughout the house when crews arrived, according to the department.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the second fire, the department said. One person was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General for evaluation.
Officials have not released the name of the person arrested or any charges in the initial announcement, and they have not said what may have caused either fire.
The investigation is ongoing, the department said, and the case is expected to be updated as investigators learn more.
Two fires at the same address in four days is an unusual pattern, and neighbors on Fess Avenue will be watching for answers about how both started. Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact Akron fire investigators.
