COLUMBUS — A Polaris bowling center now claims the second-largest LED screen in Columbus, trailing only the big scoreboard at Ohio Stadium.
Star Lanes Polaris, at 8655 Lyra Drive near Polaris Fashion Place, has installed an 83-foot-wide, 13-foot-high interactive screen above its 14 main lanes. The system, called Neoverse, is designed to tie what appears on the screen to the action on the lanes, including scoring and interactive features. A second, smaller Neoverse screen — 36 feet by 10 feet — covers the six lanes in the center’s VIP lounge.
For comparison, Ohio Stadium’s south scoreboard measures about 125 feet by 42 feet, while Nationwide Arena’s center-hung board is far smaller on each face. Star Lanes’ owner said the new wall continues the center’s push to modernize a longtime favorite pastime and gives guests a new way to experience bowling.
The 35,000-square-foot center opened in 2013 and also offers arcade games, darts, billiards, virtual reality and a simulator ride. Its existing HyperBowling system, with lighted bumpers and moving targets, will work alongside the new screens.
The company is also planning a second Columbus location near Ohio State University, with an investment of more than $7 million and an opening targeted for the third quarter of 2027. The Polaris corridor has seen a wave of entertainment investment lately, including a large indoor go-kart complex that broke ground nearby in September.
