PERRYSBURG — Residents will get a closer look at planned water main replacements along several downtown Perrysburg streets at an open house meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22.

The session will walk property owners and neighbors through the upcoming work, giving them a chance to see which streets are affected, ask city staff about the construction schedule and learn what to expect while crews are in the ground.

The downtown project is part of the city’s ongoing effort to replace aging cast-iron water mains. In earlier planning for the work, city utilities officials described replacing older 4-inch cast-iron lines with larger 8-inch PVC pipe on streets including Front Street, Section Street, Third Street and Indiana Avenue — an upgrade intended to improve water flow and reliability in the older part of the city.

Replacing mains before they fail is a priority for many northwest Ohio communities, where breaks in aging lines can mean emergency repairs, street closures and boil advisories for nearby homes and businesses.

Residents who live or own property near the work are encouraged to attend the Oct. 22 open house, particularly if their street is on the replacement list. City announcements ahead of construction typically cover detours, driveway access and any planned water shutoffs, and the open house is the best chance to raise specific concerns before work begins.
