CHILLICOTHE — The Chillicothe Halloween Festival closes out its three-day run today at Yoctangee Park, with vendors, live entertainment, costume contests and a brand-new Zombie Run 5K on the schedule from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The festival’s final day caps a full weekend of fall fun in the park. Organizers packed the three days with craft and food vendors, family entertainment and contests that drew costumed crowds across the region. The Zombie Run 5K, a first for the event, sent runners through a ghoul-themed course and gave the closing day its own signature attraction.

Yoctangee Park has been a busy place all month. The festival arrives in the middle of the city’s sweeping overhaul of the park, a roughly $35 million renovation funded through Ohio’s Appalachian Community Grant Program that has already delivered a repaved Enderlin Circle, a new multiuse pavilion, six new pickleball courts and a rebuilt amphitheater.

Halloween season in southern Ohio still has plenty of runway after today’s finale. Other area events on the calendar include the Trail & Treat family trail event at Buzzard’s Roost and a Boos Cruise BYOB paint night in Portsmouth, plus Portsmouth’s October Art Walk in the city’s Art District.
