TOLEDO — Mobis North America plans to invest $13.8 million in a new electric vehicle battery assembly plant in Toledo, a project state officials say will create 185 manufacturing jobs in the Lucas County area. State Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) announced the investment, calling it the beginning of continued growth in the region’s electric vehicle market.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority has also approved a Job Creation Tax Credit for Mobis, providing state support tied to the new positions. Grim said the investment will bring valuable cutting-edge jobs to Toledo and the greater Lucas County area, describing Mobis as an essential partner in fostering long-term regional growth.

The company has deep roots in the area, and Grim said the project solidifies Mobis’ commitment to Northwest Ohio as the seat of its operations. The announcement adds to a string of recent manufacturing wins for the Toledo area, which state leaders have pitched as a hub for the auto industry’s electric future.

Additional details on the plant’s location and construction timeline were not immediately available. NewsForce247 will update this story as more information is released.
