CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Guardians are division champions again. The Guardians clinched their third consecutive American League Central title and now await their opponent in the best-of-five American League Division Series.
Cleveland will face the winner of the best-of-three AL wild-card series between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros, which begins Tuesday at 5 p.m. Game 2 of that series is Wednesday, with a decisive Game 3, if needed, on Thursday.
The Guardians will host Games 1 and 2 of the ALDS at Progressive Field on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Monday, Oct. 5. If the series goes the distance, Game 5 would also be in Cleveland on Oct. 10. Game times had not been announced as of Tuesday; the games will be televised on TNT and TruTV and streamed on HBO Max.
Cleveland’s third straight division crown extends one of the most consistent runs in franchise history as the club chases its first World Series title since 1948.
