VANDALIA — President Donald Trump will travel to Ohio on Oct. 3 for a rally in the Dayton suburb of Vandalia as the midterm campaign season heats up in the Buckeye State.
Trump plans to appear at Butler High School, according to the Republican National Committee. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., with Trump scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. It was not immediately clear which candidates and elected officials will appear alongside him.
The president’s visit comes amid a heated race for U.S. Senate between Republican Sen. Jon Husted and former Sen. Sherrod Brown — a contest that could help decide which party controls the Senate for the remainder of Trump’s term. Polls suggest the race is close, and both parties have flooded Ohio with advertising money. DeWine appointed Husted to the Senate after JD Vance became vice president in 2025; the winner on Nov. 3 will serve the final two years of Vance’s term.
Also on the ballot is a tight governor’s race between Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat Dr. Amy Acton. Ramaswamy ran for president against Trump in 2024 and spent two months in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency.
