TOLEDO, Ohio — A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday following an accidental shooting in West Toledo, according to city police.
Officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Willamont Road, where investigators say another 10-year-old child found a firearm inside the residence. Believing the gun was unloaded, the child unintentionally fired it, striking the victim.
The injured boy was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Detectives are continuing to investigate how the firearm was obtained and whether any adults could face charges related to its storage. Police reminded residents about the importance of securing firearms safely, especially in homes with children.
