Ohio Farmers Eligible for Up to $10,000 in Propane Equipment Grants

Ohio farmers now have access to financial incentives through the Propane Farm Research Program, which reimburses up to $10,000 for propane-powered agricultural equipment such as irrigation engines and heating systems.

Program Details

The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) administers the program, compensating participants for documenting real-world performance data on propane technologies. Eligible equipment includes industrial engines ($600 per liter displacement), prime power generators ($60 per kW), backup generators ($30 per kW), and new categories like poultry house sanitizers ($2,000). Farmers submit invoices online at propane.com/PFRP to qualify, with no impact from other federal or state funding.

Ohio Ag Net Coverage

Ohio Ag Net recently highlighted the opportunity, noting its role in offsetting costs amid rising energy demands for efficient, resilient farm operations. The program builds on prior efforts, doubling some incentives from earlier years to encourage adoption of propane for power generation, irrigation, and building systems. Applications remain open to producers nationwide, including Ohio operations of all sizes.

Benefits for Farmers

Participants help advance agricultural efficiency, cost savings, and environmental improvements by providing usage data. With propane positioned as a reliable, American-made fuel, the initiative supports farm bottom lines through direct rebates and potential layered incentives. Ohio producers can apply immediately to leverage these funds for 2026 equipment investments.
