BELMONT COUNTY, OH — A section of State Route 7 southbound is currently closed in Belmont County between Interstate 70 and Interstate 470 following a significant mudslide that deposited debris onto the roadway.

The closure, which began earlier today, is expected to remain in effect as crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) work to clear the slide and ensure the road is safe for travel. The mud and earth from the adjacent hillside completely blocked the southbound lanes, necessitating the temporary shutdown.

ODOT officials have confirmed that cleanup efforts are underway, but they caution motorists that the process will take time. Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to prevent congestion and delays near the incident site.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the slide.
