Youngstown, Ohio — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced the arrest of a Mahoning County man in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a woman in Canfield 25 years ago.

The suspect, Jack Sheetz, 57, formerly of Canfield, was arrested Thursday in Akron by the U.S. Marshals Service following a sealed indictment issued by a Mahoning County grand jury this week.

The charges stem from an assault that occurred in November 2000. The case was initially investigated by the Canfield Police Department and is now being prosecuted by the Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office.

Important Note: An indictment contains criminal allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proved guilty in a court of law.
