Disturbing Details of the Case
Prosecutors described the material found on Shepard’s devices as “the worst of the worst,” including videos and images of newborns and infants being sexually assaulted by adults. The lead prosecutor characterized the content as some of the most depraved they have encountered, noting that Shepard may have acted on his illicit urges. The charges against Shepard include one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and 18 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Legal Proceedings and Bond Increase
Shepard’s original bond was set at $350,000 but was increased to $1.9 million by Hamilton County Judge Patrick Dinkelacker, who called Shepard a “menace to society” and a serious threat to public safety. The increase reflects the gravity of the charges and the danger Shepard is believed to pose to the community.
Potential for Additional Victims
Since Shepard’s arrest, two more victims from the local community have come forward, and prosecutors suspect there could be additional unidentified victims. Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich emphasized the depravity of the offenses and urged the public to be vigilant, encouraging anyone who recognizes Shepard to contact law enforcement to help identify other potential victims.
Community Warning and Next Steps
Authorities warn parents and community members to be cautious and aware, especially concerning who may have had access to their children, as investigators continue to probe the matter. Shepard’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 9, 2025. The case remains active with ongoing investigations related to local children purportedly affected since his arrest.
