AHEAD OF HIGH WINDS with rain and snow moving across northern Ohio, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission (OTIC) has announced a travel ban for all high-profile vehicles beginning at 8 a.m. EST on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The restriction will remain in effect through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2025, covering the entire 241-mile stretch of the Ohio Turnpike.

The ban applies to vehicles exceeding a height of 7 feet and 6 inches, including tractor-trailers, box trucks, buses, and large recreational vehicles. According to the OTIC, the measure is intended to reduce crashes and roadway blockages caused by strong crosswinds and mixed precipitation expected to impact the region.

Weather forecasters are predicting gusts exceeding 45 miles per hour along the northern corridor, accompanied by periods of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. These conditions could create dangerous travel scenarios, particularly for tall or light-bodied vehicles that are more susceptible to tipping or loss of traction.

The commission advises all travelers to check the latest road conditions before departure and consider delaying non-essential trips. Passenger vehicles, emergency response vehicles, and other low-profile vehicles are permitted to use the turnpike during the restriction period.
