DRESDEN — Tri-Valley running back Leevi Wade reset his own school single-game rushing record on Friday night, Oct. 16, carrying 38 times for 362 yards and five touchdowns in the Scotties’ 38-21 win over Sheridan at Jack Anderson Stadium in a Muskingum Valley League Big School Division game.

Wade scored on runs of 74 and 86 yards as Tri-Valley built leads of 21-0 in the second quarter and 38-14 early in the fourth. Both long touchdowns came on stretch zone runs — one to the left and one to the right — on which he slipped tackles at the second level and outran the defense the rest of the way.

The performance made Wade the first player in MVL history to record three 300-yard rushing games in a single season. His new mark eclipsed the 345 yards he ran for on 24 carries in a 57-28 win over Clarksville Clinton-Massie on Sept. 4, which itself had broken the 332 yards he produced in Week 1 against Meadowbrook.

Wade entered Friday night with 1,685 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, and the Sheridan game pushed him past the 2,000-yard mark for the second straight year. He also tormented the Generals last season, running 42 times for 252 yards in a double-overtime road win over Sheridan in 2025.

“It’s business once you hit the secondary,” Wade said afterward. “Once you get into the secondary, it’s more your stuff. Am I going to let the safety or corner tackle me? Being a running back, that can’t happen.” He credited offseason speed work with former Scottie Matthew Amicone, a local trainer, for helping him finish those long runs.

Tri-Valley coach Austin Jones, who held most of the Scotties’ rushing records from his own playing days in 2010-12 before Wade came along, called his running back “phenomenal” and praised the line in front of him. “The line keeps getting better and he keeps getting better as well,” Jones said. “He’s a strong kid. He runs really low to the ground, and he fights for those extra yards. He can wear a defense down.”

In league history, only one player has run for more yards in a single game: Drew Cannon, who set the MVL’s all-time rushing record from 1999 to 2002, ran for 427 yards in a shootout win against Morgan in 2001. Wade’s three 300-yard games this fall have moved him into rare company alongside that standard.

For Tri-Valley, the win over a league rival keeps the Scotties rolling behind an offense built around Wade’s workload — 38 carries on Friday — and a line that Jones says is still improving. With the regular season winding down, Wade’s record chase and Tri-Valley’s postseason positioning will both be storylines to watch in Muskingum County over the coming weeks.
