SHENANDOAH VALLEY — Five class medalists carried Shenandoah to the OVAC 3A boys cross country championship, the headline result of a busy week of October racing across the region’s 12-school coverage area.
Union Local senior Connor Bendo broke the 16-minute barrier to lead the area, Ida Estadt captured the girls 3A crown, and Claymont’s Kali Wallace ran her fastest time of the season at Medina. Indian Valley swept the first three girls places at home, while Newcomerstown’s Clara Allen added a Tuesday victory at Malvern.
The area’s fastest listed times through Oct. 10 start with Meadowbrook sophomore Vinny Campbell at 15:25.0, followed by Bendo at 15:49 and Shenandoah sophomore Joel Tewksbary at 16:13.7. Cambridge junior Brayden Biddle sits fourth at 16:38, just ahead of Caldwell sophomore Zane Boyd at 16:43.
Middle-school runners also earned places near the front of their fields as league championships approach. League meets take center stage next, wrapping up the regular season across southeast Ohio.
