PORTSMOUTH — A nearly four-year-old homicide case in Portsmouth has taken a major step forward with the arrest and indictment of a Georgia man in the killing of Chad Sissel.

The Portsmouth Police Department announced Saturday that Favio LJ Campa has been indicted on charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence in Sissel’s death. A Scioto County grand jury returned secret indictments against Campa, and he is now being held in the Scioto County Jail.

Sissel was killed on Oct. 29, 2022, in the alley behind 1225 Linden Ave. in Portsmouth. The case had gone unsolved for almost four years.

Portsmouth Police Detective Shepherd identified Campa as a suspect following what the department called a lengthy and thorough investigation. The case was then presented to the grand jury by the office of Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman. Campa was living in Georgia when the indictments were handed down.

Campa is expected to be arraigned at a later date in Scioto County Common Pleas Court. Police emphasized that the charges are allegations, and Campa is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact Detective Shepherd at 740-354-1600.
