ATHENS — The Athens Bulldogs delivered one of the loudest statements of the season on Friday night, overwhelming visiting Wellston 60-8 in Week 8 high school football action.
The Bulldogs scored early and often, piling up points on both sides of the ball in a performance that left little doubt about which team controlled the night. Wellston managed a single score but never found an answer for Athens’ relentless offense.
Elsewhere in the region, Bishop Rosecrans of Zanesville blanked Miller 27-0 in Hemlock. Frankie Palandrani powered the Bishops with 31 carries for 161 yards and four touchdowns, while Rosecrans’ defense held Miller to minus-8 yards of total offense.
It was the Bishops’ first victory since a 42-28 win over Berne Union late in the 2025 season, and it came in convincing fashion behind a bruising ground game and a shutout defensive effort.
The Week 8 results keep playoff races tight across southeast Ohio with just two weeks left in the regular season. Athens’ blowout win strengthens its standing heading into the final stretch, while Rosecrans gets a badly needed boost after a long winless run.
NewsForce247 will have full Week 8 recaps and playoff projections as the regular season winds down across the region.
