DAYTON: The University of Dayton football team returns to Welcome Stadium on Saturday for the first time in nearly a month, hosting Morehead State at noon in the Flyers’ first home Pioneer Football League contest of the season.
Dayton (3-1) has not played at home since a 30-7 win over Thomas More on Sept. 12 and is coming off its first loss of the season at Drake. The Flyers remain 2-0 at home in 2026 and lead the PFL in interceptions, first-down defense, punting and kickoff return defense while ranking second in scoring defense.
The Flyers are averaging 28.0 points per game while allowing just 17.8. Senior quarterback Bryce Schondelmyer has thrown for 725 yards, and the rushing duo of Luke Hansen and Mason Hackett powers a ground game averaging 173.8 yards per outing. Senior receivers Michael Mussari and Gavin Lochow headline the threats on the outside.
Defensively, transfer Ross Coppock leads the team with 29 tackles, while sophomore David Curl III has 4.5 sacks and an interception in his first year as a starter. Morehead State (1-4, 0-1 PFL) has dropped three straight, with its lone win coming in triple overtime against Ohio Dominican to open the season.
