COLUMBUS — Four Ohio Starbucks locations have been identified for closure as the coffee giant moves forward with plans to shutter about 250 stores across North America, the Columbus Dispatch reported Thursday.
The Ohio stores set to close are 1014 N. High St. and 4015 Easton Station in Columbus, 3093 Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights and 23181 Broadway Ave. in Oakwood. The two Columbus locations were identified first, followed by the Cleveland Heights and Oakwood stores.
In a September message to employees, Starbucks Chief Operating Officer Mike Grams said affected stores would begin closing late in the month. The company said the stores were selected because they either failed to consistently deliver the customer and employee experience Starbucks expects or lacked “a path to acceptable financial performance.”
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Starbucks’ board approved the closures on Sept. 22 and expects most affected stores to shut down by the end of fiscal 2026.
The move comes a year after a separate round of closures and corporate layoffs in September 2025. Last year, Starbucks closed three pickup-only locations in Ohio, including stores in Columbus, Oxford and Hamilton.
The company has not said whether additional Ohio locations beyond the four identified could be added to the closure list.
