PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Officials say a new investment by Whirlpool Corp. will expand operations at the company’s Perrysburg facility and add about 100 new jobs by the end of the year.
The project, announced Monday, is part of Whirlpool’s ongoing effort to strengthen its manufacturing footprint in northwest Ohio. City leaders called the move a major boost for the local workforce and economy.
“This expansion shows Whirlpool’s continued confidence in Perrysburg and our skilled labor force,” Mayor Tom Mackin said. “Adding 100 good-paying jobs in our community is a strong step forward.”
The investment will include technology upgrades and increased production capacity at the facility, which currently employs several hundred workers.
Whirlpool officials have not disclosed the total cost of the expansion, but the company said the new jobs will support key areas in production, logistics and maintenance. Hiring is expected to begin later this summer.
The Perrysburg facility is one of several Whirlpool plants across Ohio, including larger sites in Clyde, Findlay and Greenville. The company, headquartered in Benton Harbor, Michigan, manufactures household appliances and employs thousands statewide.
