BALTIMORE, Md. — The Cleveland Browns’ decision to hire Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken has sparked a mix of optimism and skepticism among fans.

Monken, a veteran coach with decades of experience in both college and professional football, joined the Ravens in 2023. Under his leadership, Baltimore’s offense has ranked among the NFL’s best — finishing second in rushing yards per game (156.6) and 11th in scoring (24.9 points per game) this past season, according to the Associated Press. In 2024, the Ravens became the first team in league history to record at least 4,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in a single season.

On Fox 8’s Facebook page announcing the hire, some Browns fans are embracing the move with cautious hope.

“As long as Monken and Schwartz can coexist — this is a solid pick,” one commenter wrote. “Unlike Stefanski, Monken has a proven history of improving quarterbacks. Go Browns.”

Another fan praised Monken’s track record, citing his college and professional success: “Monken won two national championships with Georgia and helped Lamar [Jackson] have his best season ever with 41 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. If he keeps Schwartz as DC, drafts well, and gets Shedeur some wideouts and O-line help, I think they can be great!”

Others urged fellow fans to give Monken a fair chance. “Stop with the negative attitude and comments,” one post read. “This is a new era for the Browns — let’s give Todd Monken a chance to show what he can do and support our team!”

Still, not everyone is convinced a coaching change will be enough to break decades of frustration in Cleveland. Some fans predict it could feel like “the same old song and dance” once the new season kicks off.

The 2026 NFL regular season begins Thursday, Sept. 10.

Only time will tell if Monken can turn the Browns’ fortunes around.
