TOLEDO, Ohio — Police say two teenagers from Dayton led officers on a high-speed pursuit through Wood County late Monday night before crashing into another vehicle near a busy interchange in Perrysburg.

According to Perrysburg police, the chase began when Bowling Green officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle being driven by a 13-year-old boy with a 15-year-old passenger. As the pursuit continued north along Dixie Highway, Perrysburg police joined in, with speeds reportedly reaching up to 100 mph.

The chase ended around 1:30 a.m. when the teens lost control near the diverging diamond interchange over Interstate 475. After hitting the median, the vehicle went airborne, crossed back into the northbound lanes, and struck another car from behind.

The crash closed the interchange for more than an hour while crews cleared the scene. One teen reported a shoulder injury, and the other suffered a bloody lip, but police said no other injuries were reported.

Authorities believe the teens had run away from a group home in Dayton and allegedly stole the vehicle from their caretaker before fleeing. Both were taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to police reports.
