According to official statements from West Milton Police Chief Doyle Wright, 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus died of a gunshot wound. Jaymee Prichard was asphyxiated (strangled), while Jacob Prichard died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The sequence of events began when Jacob Prichard reportedly broke into Gustitus’s apartment around 2 a.m. and fatally shot her. Later, he killed his wife Jaymee, whose body he placed in the trunk of their car. He then drove to the West Milton Government Center parking lot, where he took his own life, opening the car trunk so his wife’s body would be found with him.
All three were employees at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, with Jaymee Prichard working as a finance specialist and 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus serving as an Operations Analysis Officer specializing in mathematical and quantitative modeling. The relationship between the Prichards and Gustitus remains under investigation. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Wright-Patterson Office of Special Investigations, and local police agencies are continuing their collaborative inquiry.
This heartbreaking event leaves behind three young children from the Prichard family, prompting community support initiatives including fundraisers and meal trains. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has expressed sorrow over the tragedy and is providing counseling and support services to those affected.
The case highlights a profound loss for the Wright-Patterson and greater Ohio community as investigators continue working to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this disturbing episode.
