N.U. Wildcats Head to Semifinals of OHSAA Regional Playoffs

The North Union Wildcats of Richwood, Ohio, have made an impressive run to the semifinals of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Regional Playoffs this season. Entering the playoffs with an 8-4 record, the Wildcats have shown resilience and determination, highlighted by a critical victory over Greeneview in the first round of the Division V Region 20 playoffs, where they came from behind to secure a 21-6 win. Under the guidance of Coach Nick Hajjar, North Union’s defense played a pivotal role, limiting Greeneview’s offense to just 164 total yards and holding them scoreless in the second half.

Despite some ups and downs during the regular season, including a tough loss to Graham Local, the Wildcats have risen to the occasion in postseason play. Their teamwork and timely scoring have allowed them to advance further than many predicted, echoing a season marked by strong individual performances such as Nick Vanhoose’s consistent rushing yards—a key contributor to their success.

The OHSAA officially ranks North Union around the mid-190s nationally among high school football teams, showcasing them as competitive and notable contenders in Division V. Their continued progression into the regional semifinals scheduled for mid-November signals a thrilling season for the Wildcats and their fans, as they compete for a chance to reach the state finals and etch their name into Ohio high school football history.
