ZANESVILLE — The Animal Shelter Society in Zanesville has canceled its Music 4 Mutts fundraiser, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14, because of inclement weather expected in the area.
Director April Gibson announced the cancellation ahead of the event. The fundraiser was planned to support the shelter’s work caring for animals in the Zanesville and Muskingum County area.
Supporters will not have to wait long for another chance to help. The shelter’s next fundraiser is the Wicked Whisker brunch, set for Saturday, Oct. 17 at Taste of Ohio Wine Bourbon and Beer, 524 Main St. in Zanesville.
The shelter is directing residents to its Facebook page for the latest information on the brunch and any further schedule changes tied to the weather.
Fundraisers like Music 4 Mutts help local shelters cover the everyday costs of food, medical care and housing for animals waiting to be adopted. The cancellation is a reminder of how quickly fall weather in southeast Ohio can disrupt outdoor community events, even in mid-October.
Anyone planning to attend a shelter event this week is encouraged to check for updates before heading out, as forecasts can shift and organizers may announce changes on short notice.
