CINCINNATI — Fifteen innings were not enough to settle anything quietly on Saturday, as the Cincinnati baseball team edged crosstown rival Dayton 16-15 in a fall exhibition marathon at UC Baseball Stadium that featured four home runs, 15 walks and a little of everything.

Dylan Fairchild was the day’s hero for the Bearcats, homering twice, including a grand slam, and finishing with three extra-base hits. Ryan Tyranski and Joe DuSell went back-to-back in the 11th inning to account for Cincinnati’s other two long balls. Enzo Infelise reached base three times and drove in two runs, while Gavin Michaels added two hits and two RBI. After eight full frames, the teams took a brief break before resuming in the ninth, and the top of the 15th was deemed the final half-inning of the day.

On the mound, opener Chad Brown struck out two over 2.1 scoreless innings, Cole Adams fanned four across 2.2 shutout frames, and Nolan Bernard’s five strikeouts led all Bearcats. Brenden Garula worked the final 1.1 innings to keep the Flyers at bay. The Bearcats drew 15 walks on the day, working counts even as the offense slugged.

Cincinnati closes its fall exhibition slate next Saturday, Oct. 17, against Xavier at UC Baseball Stadium at 2 p.m., followed by the program’s annual Red vs. Black World Series starting Oct. 15. All games are free and open to the public.
