Massive Camper Explosion Sends One to Hospital, Draws 90 Firefighters
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Roughly 90 Cincinnati firefighters battled a massive blaze late Saturday in the city’s Hartwell neighborhood after flames from a camper explosion ignited several propane tanks and spread to a nearby home.

Fire crews responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a fire in the 100 block of Parkway Avenue just before 11 p.m., according to Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Flagler. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire burning on the outside of a structure and quickly spreading.

Investigators believe the fire started inside a camper on the property, triggering several propane tanks that exploded and intensified the blaze. The flames soon engulfed a wood-frame home next door, officials said.

Firefighters initially launched an aggressive interior attack, but were forced to retreat due to the fire’s intensity. Minutes after the evacuation order, the roof in the back of the house collapsed, the Cincinnati Fire Department reported.
