Zawadzki, 24, has become a key figure for the reigning MLS Cup champions since making his senior debut in 2022. The Ohio native, who grew up in Olmsted Falls and developed in the Crew’s Academy, has earned praise for his versatility — excelling both as a defensive midfielder and as a reliable central defender when needed.
“Sean embodies what it means to be a Crew player,” said Crew President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “His leadership, consistency, and deep connection to this community make him an integral part of our club’s future.”
The contract extension underscores the organization’s continued investment in its homegrown pipeline, which has produced several standout players who now form the team’s competitive core. Zawadzki’s progression from academy captain to steady MLS contributor reflects the Crew’s long-term vision for developing local talent.
Zawadzki appeared in 26 matches during the 2025 season, helping power Columbus to another deep playoff run. His performance, marked by sharp passing and tactical composure, made him one of the most dependable players on Wilfried Nancy’s roster.
“It’s an honor to represent my hometown team,” Zawadzki said in a statement. “Columbus is where I grew up both as a person and a player. I’m proud to keep wearing the black and gold for years to come.”
The Crew open their 2026 regular season on February 22 against Austin FC at ScottsMiracle-Grow Field.
