Proud parents Naima and Adan welcomed their newborn just minutes after midnight, marking the first birth of the year across all Mount Carmel Health System hospitals — and reportedly among the first statewide.
Hospital nurses and physicians at Mount Carmel Grove City cheered the arrival, continuing a cherished tradition of recognizing Ohio’s first baby each new year. The hospital extended warm congratulations to the Durow family, sharing in the excitement that the special moment brings to the community.
Mount Carmel Health System officials said the baby and mother are both healthy and resting comfortably. “It’s always a privilege to help bring new life into the world, but being part of the first birth of the new year is especially meaningful,” a hospital representative said.
As the Durow family begins their new year — and new life together — their story has become a symbol of hope and celebration for Ohioans ringing in 2026.
