COLUMBUS, Ohio – As dusk settles across Ohio this evening, residents are advised to prepare for a brisk and potentially slick night, with the National Weather Service issuing a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of the region and a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for several northern counties.

The evening commute could be impacted by dropping temperatures and the chance of precipitation, leading to hazardous conditions on roadways. The National Weather Service (NWS) has been closely monitoring a system expected to bring a mix of rain and snow to the state.

For areas under the Winter Weather Advisory, which primarily includes counties in northern Ohio near Lake Erie, residents can expect periods of light snow. Accumulations are generally anticipated to be minor, perhaps an inch or two in localized areas, but even small amounts of snow combined with freezing temperatures can create slick spots on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. Drivers in these areas are urged to exercise extreme caution, reduce speeds, and allow for extra travel time.
